Description

In this edition, the viola da gamba player Leonore von Zadow, who has been teaching for over 50 years, explains the basic concepts of playing the viola da gamba. She addresses players who are familiar with these concepts but would like to refresh and deepen their knowledge. The explanations are based on an anonymous suite for viola da gamba and basso continuo from the 17th century, the score of which is included in the original version and in a version arranged for practical use. Topics such as tenue, barrée, shift, bowing, articulation, hemiola, tempo relation and much more are covered in the text and illustrated by examples that refer to the arranged version.
